About
NVivo Transcription is an automated service to transcribe media files (audio and video) from within NVivo. Audio files can also be uploaded directly to an online portal. Transcripts ordered from within NVivo are automatically downloaded to an NVivo project once they have been reviewed, while transcripts from the online portal must be downloaded and imported manually.
NVivo Transcription is built into NVivo Windows and Mac. It is also in NVivo 12 (Windows and Mac) for use with pay-as-you-go credits (not with subscription accounts) provided users' first Transcription purchases were prior to 18 March 2020 or they are in Europe, Africa or the Middle East.
NVivo 12 users who do not meet these criteria and users of older versions of NVivo must upload their audio files manually to the NVivo Transcription portal and import the finished transcripts to their NVivo project.
NVivo Transcription is purchased separately to an NVivo license, by subscription or with pay-as-you-go credits (individual users only). Enterprise organizations can buy multiple subscriptions and assign these to end users, see instructions in the user Help.
Using different accounts for NVivo and the cloud modules
Users must log in with their myLumivero credentials to access Transcription, Collaboration Cloud, or NVivo - Integration (see myLumivero in the NVivo user online Help for more information).
It is possible for a user to have more than one customer account linked to their profile, in which case they must log in with the account that has a license for the product they want to use. For example, a researcher may have access to NVivo through a university organization account but have purchased Transcription with their personal account. They must log into the university account in order to activate their installation of NVivo but log into their personal account when they want to use Transcription.
